ENVIRONMENTAL/COMMUNITY-BASED PLANNER POSITION – FULL-TIME

TOWNSCAPE, INC. has been assisting Hawaiʻi’s communities with their environmental and community-based planning needs for over 32 years. Typically about five planners, our staff has remained small to provide quality, personalized planning services for our clients, many of whom are government and non-profit organizations that focus on place-based learning, natural resource management, and community-based planning and economic development. We are currently seeking one or more full-time Environmental/Community-Based Planners to start in the next few months.

The ideal candidate(s) will have some experience in community, natural resource, or other ʻāina-based work and are either students nearing the completion of a graduate degree in Planning, Natural Resources Management, Hawaiian Studies, or related field or those with up to two to three years of relevant professional experience. Many of Townscapeʻs clients are Native Hawaiian non-profit organizations and communities, so while fluency in Hawaiian language is not required, some familiarity is preferred, as well as some understanding of local culture and issues.

Communication skills are very important; therefore, an ability to convey ideas in text, graphics, and verbal presentations is key. As we are always seeking to find new ways to connect with communities, creativity and an open approach to planning are also desired.

Planners at Townscape work both independently and collaboratively. As such, we are looking for someone who is organized, motivated, and able to meet deadlines, think critically, and problem solve.
