ENVIRONMENTAL/COMMUNITY-BASED PLANNER POSITION – FULL-TIME

TOWNSCAPE, INC. is currently seeking one full-time Environmental/Community-Based Planner who is passionate about place-based planning, stewardship, and meaningful community impact to join our team. Our upcoming projects include community master plans, resource stewardship plans for Native Hawaiian and ʻāina-based non-profit organizations, and environmental assessments (EAs) and permits for infrastructure projects.

We will train staff, but the ideal candidate will already have some familiarity with the types of planning projects listed above. We welcome applicants who have completed or will soon complete graduate degrees in Planning, Natural Resources Management, Hawaiian Studies, or related field, or are in professional practice with at least two years of relevant experience. Fluency in Hawaiian language is not required but some familiarity is preferred, as well as some understanding of local culture and issues.

An ability to convey ideas in text, graphics, and verbal presentations is very important; we are also seeking someone who is creative and has an open approach to planning in order to find new ways to connect with the communities we serve. Planners at Townscape work both independently and collaboratively; therefore, we are looking for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and motivated and is able to learn quickly, think critically, and problem solve.
