CURRENT POSITION
 
Staff Planner at TOWNSCAPE, INC., since 2001.  Ms. Hiraoka is involved in meetings, coordination, computerized graphics, research, and report writing. Computer applications include ArcView, AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel, and Access.

Ms. Hiraoka has been involved in several planning ventures; major projects include:
  • Waikoloa Curbside Rubbish and Recycle Pick Up Program Feasibility Study, County of Hawaii, Department of Environmental Management, current.
  • Ala Wai Canal Project Feasibility Study, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, current.

PRIOR PROFESSIONAL POSITIONS AND EXPERIENCE
 
University of Hawaii, Department of Urban and Regional Planning.  Research Assistant on the City and County of Honolulu’s Traffic Calming Project, 2000-2001.  Responsible for data collection, GIS map generation, charrette coordination, and report write-up.

University of Hawaii, Environmental Center.  Environmental Reviewer and Pollution Prevention Center for Islands (P2) Program Staff Member, 1999-2000.  As environmental reviewer, reviewed environmental assessments, permit applications, and other environmental documents.  Tasks as a P2 staffer included basic research, database maintenance, information request processing, and seminar coordination.

East-West Center.  GIS Technician, 1997-1998.  Tasks included providing Geographic Information System support for the Center on the Environment research in Vietnam.

University of Hawaii at Manoa, Masters Degree in Urban and Regional Planning, expected in 2006.
University of California at Irvine, Bachelor of Science Degree in Biological Sciences, 1996.
